Sustainability at Audemars Piguet

Pioneering a more sustainable world

When Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet began their enduring collaboration, their vision was clear: to create high-quality mechanical timepieces that preserved traditional craftsmanship. Turning their back on the lure of mass-production, they worked hand in hand with the small network of artisans established in the Vallée de Joux.

By choosing quality and durability over quantity and rapid progress, they placed people, partners, clients and communities at the centre of their concerns while paying respect to the land that made their craft possible. And so, they laid the solid foundations on which Audemars Piguet was built.

Our 3/6 Sustainability Strategy

150 years on, our “3/6 Sustainability Strategy” carries forward our founders’ commitments, focusing on three key pillars: People & Communities, Environment and Governance.

Within these pillars, we have identified six priority areas that are important to us and our stakeholders: Watchmaking Savoir-Faire, DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) and Well-Being of Local Communities for the first pillar; Climate Change and Raw Materials for the second pillar; and Ethical Business - including human rights – for the third pillar.

Always looking to the future, we will continue to ensure the long-term preservation of our shared skills, heritage, values and purpose, while nurturing our communities towards a sustainable future. By communicating our progress, we hope to contribute to greater transparency and traceability within the industry.

PEOPLE AND COMMUNITIES

Enrich and transmit a living heritage, nurture our communities

Audemars Piguet owes what it is today to the collective work and energy of its people. We trace our roots to the local network of family artisans – known as the établissage – that flourished in the Vallée de Joux in the nineteenth century. While our company has evolved from an établisseur to an integrated manufacture, collective work remains our backbone. Our watches are born from the many talents - both internal and external - that work together along the supply chain. “It takes a village to create the extraordinary” as we like to say. It is therefore our responsibility today to enrich and pass on this living heritage, building on expertise and human talent to ensure that we can continue to craft exceptional timepieces for generations to come.

ENVIRONMENT

Identify, prevent, and mitigate our impact

For 150 years, Audemars Piguet has been shaped by the land and the people of Le Brassus, a small village nestled in the Vallée de Joux. This remote valley in the Swiss Jura provided not only the natural resources - iron ore, running water and wood - but also the skilled craftsmen who mastered metalwork. Our founders drew on this environment and the expertise of local artisans to uphold and evolve the art of fine watchmaking. Today, as we deepen our commitment to sustainability, we honour the path that has always guided us, ensuring it endures for generations to come.

GOVERNANCE

Cultivating secure and ethical supply chains

At Audemars Piguet, we integrate sustainability into the highest decision-making processes with guidance from our ESG team and engagement with a network of external relevant stakeholders. This structure supports the Executive Leadership Team in upholding top standards in social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
